Job Overview
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 24 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE. This post is a fixed term training contract of 24 months. The training post provides the opportunity to gain the required experience and qualification(s) needed to register as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Salary: Initially Annex 21 Band 4 – 70%, progressing to 75% after 12 months.
During the two‑year training you will be expected to gain experience reflecting the changing and growing roles of the Pharmacy Technician. Successful completion of the programme enables you to apply to the General Pharmaceutical Council for registration as a pharmacy technician and to apply for jobs as a pharmacy technician.
Main Duties
We are looking for forward‑thinking, enthusiastic, organised and motivated individuals to join our dynamic and motivated Pharmacy team. The post will be rotational between Wrexham Maelor Hospital and HMP Berwyn pharmacy departments.
Responsibilities include dispensing for in‑patients and out‑patients, purchasing and distribution, and ward‑based work. The role is varied and interesting and continuously developing new roles, providing an opportunity to explore this innovative role in a rotational training programme.

Qualifications
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs Grade A*-C (new grades 9‑4) in English, Maths, Science.
* GCSE English at Grade C/Level 4 or above, GCSE Maths at Grade C/Level 4, One Science at Grade C/Level 4 or equivalent.
* Essential Skills Wales “digital literacy” Level 2 required for those who do not already hold it.
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or evidence of academic study and continuing professional development after leaving school (desirable).
Experience
* Experience working within hospital and/or community pharmacy or within the NHS (desirable).
* Experience in dispensing, purchasing, distribution and ward‑based work (desired but not essential).
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Willingness to work in a bilingual area.
* Health and safety awareness.
* Good IT skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Welsh speaking ability.
* Knowledge of pharmacy services and role of pharmacy technician.
* Initiative and time management practice.
