We are looking for 2 candidates (each 22.5 hours), who will support the existing Lead Midwife caring for those with mental health concerns. You will be based at either Basingstoke or Winchester Hospitals and work 3 days per week. You must be a registered midwife with the NMC with current UK experience.
Responsibilities
* To lead and supervise the day to day assessment of pregnant and postnatal women in relation to their mental health needs, implementing plans of care and evaluating their effectiveness.
* To work closely with the Head of Midwifery, Antenatal, Postnatal and Community Clinical Matrons, Named Midwife Safeguarding Children and Obstetricians; being a source of information and guidance regarding policy and protocols relating to perinatal mental health and the impact on women and their families – liaise with Perinatal Mental Health Services, Community Mental Health Services and partner agencies to ensure that women with severe mental illness are appropriately managed in the perinatal period.
* Support and develop midwifery colleagues in implementing plans of care.
* Promote excellent professional practice which promotes the role of the perinatal mental health midwives within maternity services and with associated partner agencies.
* Be responsible for maintaining and disseminating local and national guidance relating to maternal mental health in the perinatal period.
* Act as a source of expert specialised knowledge and clinical expertise in relation to mental health practice.
* To provide clinical leadership and support to health professionals in the event of a mental health crisis.
* Participate in hospital on-calls – minimum 6 per year.
