Teach Now is seeking a Lead Learning Assistant – Alternative Curriculum to join a forward-thinking Hertsmere secondary school offering bespoke pathways to help students gain confidence, independence and essential life skills.
This is a unique opportunity to support small groups of learners through hands-on, interest-based programmes—particularly in hair and beauty, where you’ll guide students as they develop real, transferable skills and build a portfolio of certificates showcasing their progress. What You’ll Be Doing:
• Deliver tailored interventions and alternative curriculum sessions
• Support pupils with communication needs and varying SEN profiles
• Promote independence, motivation and personal growth
• Work closely with teachers to ensure provision is consistent and effective
• Take an active, caring role in the wellbeing and physical needs of students
• Help students build portfolios that evidence skills, knowledge and achievement
What the School Is Looking For:
• Experience supporting young people, ideally in a secondary or SEN setting
• Confident communication and strong relationship-building skills
• A positive, collaborative approach and willingness to learn
• Interest or experience in hair and beauty (training can be provided)
• Reliability, organisation and genuine passion for empowering learners
Why This School?
• Tailored training and professional development opportunities
• Excellent transport links (M1, M25, A1, A41 nearby)
• Free staff gym membership
• Employee Assistance Programme
• Eye Care Voucher Scheme
• Bike2Work scheme
• Supportive leadership and a welcoming, student-centred ethos
If you’re ready to help young people discover their strengths and thrive through alternative learning pathways, we’d love to hear from you.
