A well‑established precision engineering manufacturer in Ferndown is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner to join its busy machine shop team. This is a hands‑on role suited to a skilled machinist who is confident programming, setting and operating CNC lathes within a fast‑paced production environment.
The business is seeking someone who enjoys producing high-quality components, working with modern CNC machinery and supporting efficient day‑to‑day manufacturing output. The role also includes involvement with sliding head machining, offering added variety and technical challenge.

The Role
As a CNC Turner, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce precision‑engineered components to tight tolerances.
* Programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
* Working with live tooling and multi‑axis machining equipment.
* Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
* Carrying out first‑off and in‑process inspections using measuring equipment.
* Making programme edits and offset adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
* Ensuring machines are set and running efficiently to meet production targets.
* Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a CNC Turner, Setter or Programmer.
* Experience programming, setting and operating CNC lathes.
* Experience with live tooling and/or multi‑axis machining.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
* Strong understanding of machining tolerances and inspection processes.
* High attention to detail and a quality‑focused approach.
* Reliable, hands‑on and proactive attitude.
Desirable Experience
* Experience with Fanuc or similar CNC controls.
* Sliding head machining experience.
* Background in precision engineering environments.
* Experience producing complex components to tight tolerances.
