Job Description – Senior Maintenance Facilities Shift Technician, electrically biased – In House – Loughton
Day shift 07.00 – 14.00 and 14.00 – 21.00
Overview
The building is a diverse organisation with over 4,000 staff committed to public service and supporting monetary and financial stability in the UK. The Property department's Infrastructure Engineering team maintains and enhances the building environment, providing engineering services for staff. The team manages significant capital investments, supports business continuity, health & safety, events, facilities, catering, cleaning, post, and travel, ensuring value for money across procurements.
The Engineering team is responsible for maintaining all engineering systems, ensuring reliable 24/7 operations across various environments, offering broad engineering exposure.
Job description – Shift Technician
The services provided by the Shift Technician include:
* Supporting reactive maintenance tasks via IWMS.
* Updating maintenance tasks within IWMS.
* Performing daily & periodic checks on building systems & equipment to ensure 24/7 operation.
* Attending to faults and failures, prioritizing responses, and minimizing downtime.
* Carrying out routine maintenance on HVAC, electrical, fire, and other systems.
* Proactively suggesting improvements and innovations.
* Conducting statutory testing on life safety and critical systems.
* Supporting OEM contractors with maintenance and emergency tasks.
* Providing data for shift hand-over reports.
* Supporting 24/7 operations as an Authorised Person (LV) – Electrical and/or Mechanical.
* Completing training and performance objectives.
* Promoting health & safety standards.
* Ensuring work is completed per procedures, risk assessments, SLAs, and customer standards.
* Encouraging teamwork and continuous improvement.
* Participating in weekly on-call support rota.
Requirements
* City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in relevant engineering subject.
* IOSH Operating Safely qualification.
* SC Security Vetting (provided by the company).
* Experience with IWMS maintenance tools and handheld HMI.
* Experience with HVAC, BMS, Electrical, Public Health, and Life Safety Systems.
* Authorised Person experience at HV or LV systems.
* Knowledge of Safe Systems of Work.
* Understanding of statutory and compliance obligations.
* Ability to interpret complex mechanical, electrical, and control drawings.
