Are you passionate about food, community, and making a difference? St Vincent's Support Centre in Leeds is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our vibrant Community Café team.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll help prepare and serve simple, nutritious meals and drinks in a welcoming café environment. You'll support the Café Manager in delivering excellent customer service and contribute to the smooth running of the café throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and cook meals such as breakfasts, jacket potatoes, soups, and desserts
* Serve hot and cold drinks, take orders, and handle cash transactions
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and café area
* Support volunteers and assist with catering for events and buffets
* Help with stock control, ordering, and completing relevant paperwork
* Build positive relationships with café users, staff, and volunteers
What We're Looking For
Essential:
* Previous experience in catering and customer service
* Good level of education
* Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety
* Excellent communication and food preparation skills
* Friendly, organised, and able to stay calm under pressure
Desirable:
* Level 2 Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certificate
* Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
* Experience in the voluntary sector or understanding of local community issues
