An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Security Operative to work in the Centralised Control Room at Bethlem Royal Hospital for the Facilities Department, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, working closely with the Facilities Team Leader.
Overview
The Centralised Control Room Operative will provide 24/7 / 365-day cover of the Centralised Control Room, monitoring CCTV, BMS, Fire, intruder and panic alarms, and emergency phones. The role includes calling the emergency services as needed and acting as the first point of contact for DSN and emergency services. The post holder will be part of a team delivering a welcoming, supportive, and organised environment and will maintain confidentiality and promote a calm, positive atmosphere. The role includes acting as a fire marshal to coordinate safety during evacuations. The position requires staying current with mandatory training to maintain job competency and effectively manage challenging interactions and emergencies.
The post holder will work 07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00 and will primarily provide a service at Bethlem Royal Hospital. The hospital is located in West Wickham; Eden Park (zone 5) is the nearest train station with transport links from central London, Croydon, and Bromley, including the new super loop route. The post holder may be required to travel and work at other sites if necessary.
Responsibilities
* Operate and monitor the Centralised Control Room systems (CCTV, alarms, fire, intruder, and panic alarms) and emergency telephones.
* Respond to emergencies and coordinate contact with DSN and emergency services as required.
* Provide a first point of contact for SLAM staff and health professionals.
* Maintain confidentiality and support a calm, safe environment.
* Act as fire marshal to coordinate safety during evacuations.
* Maintain up-to-date training and competencies; manage challenging interactions and emergencies effectively.
Qualifications and Skills
* Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable with IT and willing to learn new software packages and processes.
Location and Schedule
Location: Bethlem Royal Hospital (West Wickham, London). Shift: 07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00.
