Senior Civil Engineer
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in Bristol who are looking to hire a Senior Civil Drainage Engineer to join their growing civils team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity with an immediate start available, offering a salary of £48,000 to £60,000 (depending on experience).
This role would suit an experienced civil engineer with strong UK drainage and highway design capability, particularly across below ground drainage and adoptions. You'll be involved in producing technical designs and supporting packages for approvals/adoption, as well as contributing to Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and drainage strategy work.
Key responsibilities
·Deliver UK highways and drainage design work across a range of projects (minimum 10+ years' UK experience required)
·Design storm and foul drainage networks using WinDes (and/or MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow)
·Support and produce Section 104 drainage adoption designs and drawings
·Support and produce Section 38 / Section 278 highway adoption designs and drawings
·Produce and contribute to Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Assessments / Strategies
·Prepare and check design calculations, drawings, reports, and contract documents
·Work confidently with AutoCAD and AutoTrack (experience with Civil 3D strongly preferred)
·Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, local authorities, and internal stakeholders
·Assign and check work produced by technicians/administrative support as needed
·Present technical outputs clearly and professionally
·Contribute to cut and fill analysis where required
·Work in line with H&S, environmental, and internal management procedures
Experience & skills required
·Strong background in UK drainage and highways design
·Proven experience achieving successful adoptions under S38/S278 and S104
·Working knowledge and design capability for SuDS
·Confident using Civil 3D ground modelling (or similar), alongside FRA/drainage strategy work
·Strong organisation skills and ability to manage competing priorities
·Clear communication skills and confidence building rapport at all levels
·A calm, flexible attitude and a proactive, team-focused approach
·Competent with MS Office tools (Word/Excel)
Additional requirements
·Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (site visits required)
·Right to live and work in the UK
·Working towards Chartership with a relevant professional body
