Job Description
Teacher of Science (SEMH)
Contract type: Full time, Permanent, Term time only Salary: up to £38,810
Start date: Easter 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
Your new role:Due to positive developments within our team we have the opportunity for a Science specialist to join our amazing team at Quorn Hall School. You will work with incredible pupils who have a wide range of Special Educational Needs including SEMH needs (social, emotional and mental health). The ideal candidate would ideally be able to offer either Humanities or World Studies - this is desirable but not essential.
At Quorn Hall, teachers are encouraged to take learning beyond the classroom and utilise our beautiful grounds and the wider community to bring learning to life. This is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and adventurous teacher to join our school. You will be responsible for planning, assessing and implementing the curriculum for all learners to ensure pupil progress, and the needs and interests are met for learners with SEMH difficulties.
Your experience:
Experience working with children and young people who have special educational needs is essential. You will have a broad knowledge of strategies used for building and sustaining positive relationships with children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and those who have a diagnosis of autistic spectrum disorder. Although this is a secondary post, it would also be suitable for a primary school teacher with the correct skill set. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their teaching career within a SEN setting.
Resilience is a key trait for all our staff - being able to bounce back from experiences and being creative with pupil interactions is a key part of the role at Quorn Hall School.
We would love to hear from you if you thrive on working in a demanding but immensely rewarding environment; if you are passionate about supporting the development of social, life and independence skills; and if you truly want to make a difference in the lives of our pupils.
Your new school:
Quorn Hall School is a GOOD school. Last inspected in June 2025. This is your chance to join a staff team who look after each other and who value what everybody has to say.
"The school has an ambitious vision to ensure that all pupils understand how to become successful learners. It realises this ambition through the four 'Rs' that encourage pupils to be 'respectful, responsible, resilient and reflective'." Ofsted, June 2025
We have super high aspirations for our pupils, and want you to be a part of their journey. Our pupils are funny and bright. "We believe in learners until they believe in themselves". Where previous schools have been unsuccessful in meeting the needs of learners, we are highly skilled at adapting teaching, the curriculum and provision so that pupils find the sense of belonging and achievement they have been missing.
We are an inclusive and forward thinking school that supports Children and Young People aged 7-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are a trauma informed school with therapeutic support at the heart of our provision. We are an incredibly friendly and welcoming school and are on a fantastic journey; we are growing, and with this comes the opportunity to embed the culture and system of a truly integrated education and therapy model.
Working hours:
* Term time only
* Monday -Thursday 8.15am-4.30pm
