Other requirements : You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement. If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme. Role 1 – Environmental, Health and Safety – Barnard Castle Workplace Arrangements: Full time onsite required Overview of the Department The EHS function at the Barnard Castle site is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance across the site. We work to maintain compliance with legal and corporate requirements, reduce environmental impact, and promote a strong safety culture. The team supports risk management, incident investigation, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement projects to protect people, the environment, and business operations. Key Placement Learnings Assist with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) inspections and audits across the site to ensure compliance with internal standards and legal requirements. Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification – Understanding how to evaluate workplace risks and implement control measures. Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis – Learning structured approaches to investigate incidents and prevent recurrence. Regulatory Awareness – Gaining knowledge of environmental and health & safety legislation and compliance requirements and contribute to sustainability and waste management initiatives, including data collection and reporting. Data Analysis & Reporting – Collecting, interpreting, and presenting EHS performance data including supporting the review and update of EHS documentation, such as procedures, checklists, and safety data. Communication & Collaboration – Working with cross-functional teams to promote a strong safety culture including assisting in developing and delivering EHS awareness campaigns and training materials for site teams. Project Management – Supporting EHS projects from planning through to implementation. Role 2 – Environmental Health and Safety Support – Ware Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required Overview of the Department The site EHS team at Ware are responsible for the safety of staff, contractors and visitors on site. The team specialise in different fields including engineering activities, ergonomics, manual handling, noise, COSHH and high-risk activities. Key Placement Learnings Organising and running site meetings, understanding of site safety requirements and implementing standards, point of contract for contractors and staff on safety concerns. Undertake Risk Assessments and develop the site Machinery Safety improvement program. Own elements of the Contractor safety improvement program. Improve EHS training methods to include new technologies/methods by keeping up to date on health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations. Use EHS data analysis to improve EHS performance by understanding the impact of the workplace on the environment and how to minimize negative effects. Analyse procedures and standards to both simplify and improve our approach and implement preventative measures, as well as deliver training programmes to staff. Gain skills in emergency response planning by preparing for and responding to workplace emergencies. Role 3 – Environment, Health & Safety Associate - Worthing Degree requirements: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other relevant Engineering degree subject. Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required Overview of the Department The Worthing EHS department supports the safe day to day operations of the site tablets manufacturing process, operational engineering and capital project delivery, quality, waste management, and security arrangements. Expertise within the team span from, but not limited to, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety, Workplace Transport, Occupational Health, Emergency Response, Chemical & Biological Agents, and Waste Management. Key Placement Learnings Conducting Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards and implementing strategies to mitigate these risks. Developing and implementing safety programs Supporting EHS Audits Data analysis and reporting - analysing EHS performance data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement.
