role overview:
we are seeking an experienced senior it technician to join our it team. the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our it infrastructure, providing technical support to staff, and ensuring the smooth operation of all it systems. this is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to contribute to a growing consultancy and take ownership of key it projects.
key responsibilities:
* provide first-line and second-line it support to staff across all systems and devices
* maintain and manage servers, networks, and hardware
* monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions
* install, configure, and upgrade software and hardware
* ensure data security and backup procedures are followed
* document processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps
* collaborate with other departments to implement it solutions that support business objectives
* assist with planning and implementing new it projects
must have:
* proven experience as an it technician or in a similar role
* strong knowledge of networking, servers, and hardware maintenance
* experience with windows server environments and office 365
* solid understanding of security best practices and backup procedures
* excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
* strong communication skills and the ability to support non-technical staff
nice to have:
* certifications such as mcp, comptia a+, or itil
* experience with virtualisation technologies (vmware, hyper-v)
* previous experience in a consultancy or professional services environment
* knowledge of cloud services and migration projects
