The role:
* Supporting the delivery of concept studies and strategies with hands-on design, leading to planning applications, technical approval submissions, and construction drawings.
* Contributing to various development projects across different sectors and clients.
* Managing multiple multi-disciplinary project/client accounts simultaneously.
* Providing guidance and support to a team of experienced and developing technical staff.
* Engaging in high-profile client interactions, stakeholder management, design team liaison, and project management.
* Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, to technical standards, and in compliance with legal requirements.
What you need to succeed:
* A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
* Experience in highway/roads design, drainage, flood risk assessment, utility design, and planning, with knowledge of the development industry in Scotland and the UK.
* Desirable: knowledge of hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics, building structures, and understanding of construction design stages.
* Ability to produce infrastructure masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations, and construction drawings.
* Familiarity with relevant design codes such as Sewers for Adoption, Water UK Sewerage Sector Guidance, Design Manual for Roads & Bridges, Manual for Streets, and Local Authority Design Guidance.
* Strong communication skills and awareness of current technical and planning guidance on climate change and sustainability.
* Proficiency in relevant software like InfoDrainage, Civil 3D, and/or PDS.
* Experience liaising with clients, co-professionals, and authorities to secure technical approvals and statutory agreements.
* Knowledge of legal processes, planning, design, software, technical consents, and procedures related to sewer, SuDS, highway, and utility provision for developments.
* Understanding of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering projects.
