An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Therapy Team as a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner.
We are seeking a dynamic and caring person with experience in supporting therapy assessments and interventions to play a key role in the daily planning and delivery of therapy and rehabilitation goals. Our team is an integrated Therapy Team, comprising Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Assistants.
Experience working in an acute hospital setting or alongside an occupational therapy or physiotherapy team would be advantageous. The ability to work well within a team environment is essential. Experience working with post-operative elective orthopaedic patients is desirable but not essential.
We offer a supportive environment for personal development and the opportunity to shape the future delivery of therapy services. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care.
Under the supervision of a registered Physiotherapist, you will be expected to:
1. Manage and organize a designated caseload of patients and your professional activities across hospital wards.
2. Provide skilled support to registered therapists in delivering technical therapy interventions in various settings.
3. Use an evidence-based, person-centred approach in planning, implementing, evaluating, and monitoring interventions to promote patient functional fitness and aid discharge, respecting individual abilities, preferences, and cultural beliefs.
4. Work flexibly across a 7-day service.
5. Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, employing skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, negotiation, and empathy, especially when barriers such as hearing loss, speech difficulties, anxiety, fear, or depression are present.
East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) is one of the largest in East Anglia, providing hospital and community health services across a wide area, including two main hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich, six community hospitals, and in patients' homes. We support your career development through a generous pension scheme, 27 days of annual leave (pro-rata), NHS discounts, and a Staff Health & Wellbeing programme offering mental health support. Flexible working opportunities are available.
Our philosophy is that 'Time Matters'—we strive to improve processes and eliminate delays for staff and patients.
You may be eligible for a qualification via an apprenticeship, subject to a skills review. For details, see the attached Apprenticeship Handbook.
If you are passionate about patient care and eager to develop your skills and knowledge, we would love to hear from you.
