This exciting opportunity sits within the Conservation Education Department and is based at London Zoo, at the heart of one of the world’s most iconic wildlife organisations. The role plays a vital part in supporting ZSL’s mission to inspire, inform, and empower people to protect and restore wildlife across the globe. The position is offered as a 12‑month fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week. There is also a part‑time position available (18.75 hours per week) advertised on our careers site. This opportunity sits within the Conservation Education Department and involves delivering and supporting a wide range of conservation education programmes for diverse audiences including schools, youth and community groups, teachers and trainee teachers, as well as conservation professionals. You will help bring conservation to life and create meaningful connections between people and wildlife, and you will contribute to the development of innovative activities and resources, working with colleagues across ZSL to design and deliver impactful learning experiences that inspire real‑world action.
Key Responsibilities
* Conservation Education: Deliver educational activities for Conservation Education audiences in our zoos, online and through outreach, ensuring all participants have positive learning experiences.
* Planning and Admin: Support planning, administration and organisation of conservation education activities, liaising with teachers and group leaders where required.
* School and Community: Facilitate school, community and youth group visits to the zoo, including those with SEND and/or additional needs. Support teachers/group leaders and students, assist with volunteer coordination, help groups plan their time at the zoo, and collaborate with colleagues across London Zoo to ensure a welcoming and accessible experience.
* Team Support: Support Senior Learning Officers, Community Engagement Programme Lead and other colleagues on Conservation Education projects and activities.
* Evaluation and Improvement: Contribute to ongoing improvements to the experience for schools, community groups and other educational groups, including through reflective practice, evaluation and meetings.
