Junior Design Engineer – Cheltenham
TERM: Permanent
Salary: £27,000 - £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
My client specialises in fabrication for a range of industries and is looking to hire a Design Engineer in the Cheltenham area. Graduates will also be considered.
Key responsibilities
* Work with the current engineering team of Design Engineers.
* Produce 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and 2D drawings with AutoCAD.
* Liaise with manufacturing providers.
* Participate in final assembly of products.
* Create required documentation, project reports and plans.
* Update 3D models and drawings.
* Input parts into the MRP system creating BOMs.
* Check drawings for sign-off.
* Collaborate in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects.
Qualifications and experience
* Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
* Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment (not required).
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, etc.
* Strong theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge and ability to work with tight tolerances.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Skill in mechanical calculations.
* Desirable experience with process machinery or steel/metal materials.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
