Job Title: Temp Institute Manager
Location: London, WC1
Contract: 6 months
Hours: 36.5 hours
Rates: £35.88-44.77 per hour
SRG is seeking a temporary Institute Manager for a university in London.
The Institute Manager collaborates closely with the Institute Director and other senior staff to ensure smooth operational support services across finance, IT, HR, and scientific support including Biological and Histology Services, Health & Safety, laboratory, and space management.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading operational, technical, and administrative functions to support research, education, and enterprise.
* Managing budgets and resources effectively within set policies.
* Supporting strategic planning and implementation alongside the Institute Director.
* Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and institutional policies.
Operational Management:
* Managing the professional services and technical teams.
* Overseeing the quality and reliability of operational services.
* Managing resources including finance, staffing, and facilities.
* Maintaining governance structures and monitoring performance.
Strategic Development:
* Advising on strategic objectives and priorities.
* Developing and implementing institute strategies and policies.
* Leading budget planning and financial management cycles.
Finance and Resource Management:
* Ensuring policy compliance and effective financial management.
* Supporting grant applications and research administration.
Human Resources:
* Managing HR services, recruitment, and staff development.
* Promoting staff engagement and diversity initiatives.
Experience and Qualifications:
* Proven leadership in higher education administration and operations.
* Experience managing large budgets and research funding.
* Educational background including a degree, preferably PhD in a scientific discipline.
* Strong project, change, and personnel management skills.
