RM Recruit are partnering with a Birmingham based Membership Organisation for the recruitment of their current Head of Finance vacancy. The Head of Finance is responsible for overseeing both strategic and operational financial management across the organisation, achieved through effective leadership of the Finance Team and the provision of expert financial advice and services to the CEO, Board and all senior stakeholders. Responsibility for the Head of Finance include, but will not be limited to: * Day to day management of the finance team, including responsibility for the departmental budget and staff performance. * Develop, maintain, and enforce all financial policies across the organisation, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with best practices. * Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, statutory regulations, and regulatory requirements at all times. * Contribute to income growth, operational efficiency, and long-term financial sustainability, while modelling best practice. * Provide strategic and operational leadership in planning, implementing, reporting, and controlling the organisations financial and budgetary activities. * Oversee all external financial audits, inspections, and compliance activities, including negotiation of audit findings with external bodies such as auditors, HMRC, and others. * Lead and deliver financial training for non-finance staff across the organisation * Provide expert financial advice and reporting to the Senior Management Team, including budgets, scenario planning, performance analysis, and participation in senior management meetings. * Manage cash flow by balancing working capital, reserves, and investments, and modelling future financial performance under various scenarios. * Collaborate with the CEO and the wider Senior Management Team to prepare and develop medium-term financial planning and membership growth. * Deliver regular analysis of financial risks, investment planning, and strategy in line with organisational values and risk appetite. * Support and advise the national network of membership groups with timely financial guidance and best practice. * Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, actuaries, investment brokers, and legal advisers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. * Support the CEO and Leadership team in responding to regulatory matters The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant (essential) and have proven experience of financial leadership in a membership body, Not for Profit organisation or SME settings. Past experience in a Head of Finance, Finance Director or “number one” finance role is required for all applicants.
