Job Summary
The Royal Oldham Hospital
Band 2/3 depending on qualifications and experience - see job description and specification for more details. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Dispenser to support and enhance our technical teams based at The Royal Oldham Hospital.
Your role will involve the dispensing and labeling of a wide range of medicines for in-patients, out-patients and discharges, working at ward level as part of a discharge team, greeting patients and staff at the pharmacy reception.
Main duties / Responsibilities
* You will need good communication skills and a pleasant telephone manner.
* You must be able to work accurately and quickly under pressure and be committed to delivering high standards in a patient-focused service.
* Previous pharmacy experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
* You will be required to study for and gain the NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services; this is a mandatory qualification for this post and you must satisfy apprenticeship funding to apply for this role.
* Candidates with the NVQ2 qualification in pharmacy services and the relevant pharmacy experience will be appointed to the band 3 post.
* There will be a requirement to participate in extended hours working including late nights, weekends, and bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Essential
* Skills & Abilities: Attention to detail; able to work alone in an accurate and systematic way; ability to work well in a team in a busy environment; ability to show initiative in dealing with non-routine activities; good problem-solving skills; good verbal and written communication skills; good timekeeping skills; trustworthy with a strong sense of responsibility.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
* Essential: Understanding of the range of duties involved in the post.
Desirable
* Experience in Pharmacy across any sector.
Qualifications
* Essential: Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (A-C Grades).
* Desirable: NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or working towards. This is a mandatory qualification for this role; the postholder will be expected to undertake this qualification upon successful recruitment. Training will be provided.
