Do you have a background in the water industry? Are you looking for your next challenge, where you will be involved with lots of projects, seeing them from start to finish? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you as a Capital Liaison Technician!

What you'll do

As the Capital Liaison Technician, you will work with the Operational and Engineering teams across Wessex Water Services Limited and the YTL Group on the appraisal, design, construction, commissioning and financial reporting of capital schemes to ensure we achieve the right solution.

You will act as the key decision maker on schemes and be responsible for ensuring that information is appropriately communicated between all stakeholders. Focussing on Bioresources, you will assist with engineering schemes across Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset; with a base location at our offices in either Trowbridge, Poole, Yeovil or Taunton.

Responsibilities include:

1. reviewing scheme briefs and ensuring that the design proposals and scheme approval papers have been discussed before submission and that all comments relating to the project are covered
2. critically reviewing capital schemes and ensure that all options are investigated and that the most practical/cost-effective option has been adopted
3. ensuring that scheme proposals and design meet operational requirements and the company's technical standards
4. providing feedback to the teams with the project status, highlighting specific problem areas and any major issues and key dates that impact operational activities
5. attending construction site/progress meetings and providing operational comments and feedback on construction issues and changes, drawing on wider team input
6. discussing and agreeing on the commissioning plan and ensuring adequate resources and time are allocated by the scheme Project Manager and Operational teams
7. coordinating project and operational staff to deliver the commissioning, training and takeover of capital projects
8. ensuring the original brief has been satisfied and all required documentation and training have been provided before agreeing on takeover and scheme closedown
9. reviewing operating and maintenance manuals, as well as other handover documentation to ensure that they cover all operational requirements of the scheme, including all health and safety issues
10. reviewing the revenue effects of new obligations for capital schemes for accuracy and agreeing on the revenue effect on manning levels and monetary budgets.

What you'll need

To be successful, you will have a safety-first approach, be highly motivated and comfortable working using your own initiative. You will be a natural problem solver and confident communicator, both verbally and in writing.

In addition, you will have:

11. highly competent and proven experience in water production and supply, sewerage, waste treatment or bioresources
12. knowledge of health and safety requirements
13. working knowledge of functional M&E equipment used in the water industry
14. NVQ/A-level education or equivalent level of experience in the water industry
15. IT competence, particularly in Microsoft Office packages, including Excel, Word and SharePoint.

It would be beneficial for the role if you possess the following, but this can also be developed through training:

16. knowledge and understanding of process safety
17. knowledge of DSEAR 2002 and COMAH Regulations 2015.

Due to the nature of this role, it is essential you hold a valid driving licence; a company vehicle will be provided along with all the tools you will need.
