As a Weapons Engineer (Weapons Handling), you’ll step away from front line duties and into a role where you’ll shape the next generation of Royal Navy personnel. Drawing on your specialist understanding of Astute Class submarine weapon systems, you’ll coach, guide and assess learners across a range of Weapons Electrical and Weapons Handling disciplines, while contributing your subject matter expertise to course development, technical change activity and wider Marine Training initiatives. Day-to-day you’ll be:
• Delivering classroom and simulator-based training, primarily focused on Astute Class submarines
• Providing subject matter expertise to support training design and review
• Supporting governance through reporting, documentation, and assurance
• Liaising with stakeholders and acting as a technical point of contact for training queries
• Maintaining safe systems of work and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies
The role is based onsite at HMNB Clyde, and the set working times are Monday to Thursday (08:00–16:30) and Friday (08:00–13:00), totalling 37 hours per week.
Essential experience of the Weapons Engineer
• Sound knowledge of submarine Tactical Weapons Engineering systems
• Experience in Weapons Handling operations
Qualifications for the Weapons Engineer:
• Qualified Weapons System Board – Competent User Level 3 (CU3) certification

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
