As part of a consortium forming Connect Plus Services, AtkinsRéalis, Balfour Beatty and Egis Road Operations UK bring together a unique partnership with strengths in highways asset care, spanning finance, design, build, maintenance and day-to-day operation. We deliver major improvement projects such as widening 38 miles of the M25, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries to maximise network reliability.
Role
We are looking for a dynamic and self-motivated individual with a project background to join this fast-paced team to deliver the highways and technology schemes in the portfolio. Projects delivery will include the whole project lifecycle from feasibility through to handover. Schemes range in value from £100k to £3m+ and include safety schemes, environmental improvements, technology schemes, remedial works and structure schemes mainly funded by National Highways.
Your Purpose
We are seeking a candidate to lead and support project delivery, ensuring alignment with project objectives, resources, schedules and budgets. Live the Connect Plus Values and contribute to health, safety and sustainability goals.
Responsibilities
* Supports and leads collaborative relationships with the project management team and key internal/external stakeholders to ensure mutual understanding of project delivery.
* Ensure compliance with the DBFO contract, clarifying roles and responsibilities, resolving risks and issues, producing timely reports, and maintaining change records.
* Liaise with and manage the Design, agree and implement project plans, ensuring activities are resourced to deliver outcomes.
* Lead projects through feasibility, design and construction stages, informing investment proposals for clients.
* Develop robust cost profiles, identify key risks, and manage commercial aspects including cost planning, quotations, invoices, forecasting and applications with the commercial team.
* Identify and evaluate risks, issues and dependencies; escalate and implement solutions as needed.
* Support Framework Contractors and Designers, setting clear health and safety, time and cost expectations and taking remedial action where necessary.
* Support delivery of sustainability activities including net zero and biodiversity net gain.
* Coordinate with Construction/Supervisor teams to manage permits, certificates and site reporting in line with project needs.
* Manage the P6 programme with the planning team, including identifying critical paths.

What You Can Bring
* Project Management Experience, ideally with a recognised qualification (APM PMQ, PRINCE2, APMP, etc.).
* Degree qualification preferred and membership of a relevant professional body or working toward such qualification.
* Broad knowledge of Highway or Structures Engineering and related design areas.
* Knowledge of CDM, H&S and environmental legislation related to Highway Engineering.
* Knowledge of NEC (New Engineering Contract) and other relevant contracts.
