Musical Director/Conductor for community brass band
Job Description
Frome Town Band seeks a new Musical Director. The role is self‑employed, paid £37 per hour, with approximately five hours of rehearsal per week plus regular performances, for an estimated annual income of £9,000.
The candidate should be a self‑employed, highly skilled brass player with experience running ensembles and events, enthusiastic about and visionary for driving the organisation forward. They must commit to and understand the value of music and the arts to young people’s development and to the mental health of all people, and be available flexibly, including evenings and weekends by agreement. The role requires strong collaborative skills while also being able to work independently and manage time effectively.
Job Requirements
Frome Town Band is a charity organisation run by a committee of playing members and governed by trustees. The band has over 50 members, a rolling programme from beginners to pro, and runs outreach projects in schools. It is funded primarily by members’ £12 monthly membership. Practice takes place Wednesday evenings.
