SEN Teaching Assistant – EYFS (1:1 Support)
Contract: Full Time, Temporary (Term Time Only)

A welcoming and inclusive two-form entry primary school in Hackney is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Reception pupil with additional needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about early years education and supporting children at a crucial stage of their development.

The Role
• Provide consistent 1:1 support for a Reception pupil with SEN
• Support communication, emotional regulation, and social development
• Assist access to the EYFS curriculum through play-based and structured activities
• Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s support plan or EHCP
• Support daily routines including transitions, carpet time, and outdoor learning
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Monitor progress and feedback to the class teacher and SENCO
The Ideal Candidate
• Has experience working in EYFS or Reception
• Has supported pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis
• Is patient, nurturing, and emotionally attuned
• Understands early childhood development and inclusive practice
Desirable Experience
• ASD, speech and language, or social communication needs
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework and early interventions
• Team Teach or similar behaviour support training
This role is ideal for someone seeking hands-on SEN experience in a supportive early years setting, making a genuine difference every day.
Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
