Machinist Surface grinders - late shift role at Wärtsilä. This is a permanent position with the preferred location in Havant, Portsmouth.
What You Will Be Doing
The ADR cell encompasses a range of manual machines manufacturing components for seal assemblies and spares. This position uses grinding machines, milling machines, turning machines and lapping machines and involves machining materials such as Inconel, stainless steels, carbon and composites. Business demand will drive required manpower and skills with duties communicated as needed. Flexibility is required for a wide variety of duties, to be carried out in a safe and accurate manner, working to our OTIF target.
Working hours:
Mon - Thurs 2.30pm - 10.30pm
Friday - 12.20pm - 8.00pm
Responsibilities
 * Operate drilling machines
 * Operate lapping machines
 * Work to tight tolerances using a variety of measuring equipment
 * Work with engineering drawings and processes
 * Work with highly resistant materials (e.g., Inconel)
 * Communicate with all ops teams to proactively meet OTIF
 * Continuous improvement of processes and procedures
 * Perform duties safely in accordance with health & safety procedures
 * Any other duties as required
Qualifications
 * Experience of working in a tool room environment
 * Experience with grinding machines (surface grinder)
 * Assemble and fitting experience
 * 5 years' experience in an engineering environment
 * Understanding of health & safety procedures
 * Mechanical/assembly aptitude
 * Ability to read and understand drawings
 * Effective communication within a small team
 * Ideally educated to college standard or solid manufacturing industry experience
