Senior Staff Nurse – Rheumatology (Fixed-term, 10 months) – Band 6 – Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.
Contract: Fixed term (10 months maternity cover). Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum. Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (Monday‑Friday). Closing date: 30 Nov 2025 23:59.
Key Responsibilities
* Adhere to Department, Trust, and BSR protocols and guidelines; conduct relevant investigations and audits.
* Deliver Rheumatology‑specific education to staff, patients, and families.
* Support smooth operation of the Rheumatology service in the absence of senior nurses, providing clinical and leadership support.
* Assist in developing specialist strategies, policies, and plans that enhance capacity and resilience.
* Collaborate closely with Consultants, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, and Homecare services for patient monitoring.
* Work with clinicians, care group leaders, and administrators to deliver the service vision.
* Provide specialist clinical services across the acute Trust for Rheumatology patients.
* Participate in local and national clinical audits.
* Offer clear, accurate, and courteous advice line support, documenting communications on EPR and DAWN.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
* Current Registered Nurse, Degree level.
* Resuscitation – at least Intermediate Life Support.
* Mentorship / Assessor / Facilitator / Coaching qualification.
Desirable Training
* Evidence of recent clinical practice in a specialist area.
* History taking, Assessment and Diagnostics module.
Experience
Essential
* Significant post‑registration experience.
* Excellent role modelling.
* Excellent team‑working skills.
Desirable
* Recent clinical experience in a related client group.
* Understanding of blood monitoring and remote surveillance service.
