Full-time, 8:30 AM to 3:40 PM
**About the Role:**
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Special Needs School in Oldham, Lancashire. The successful candidate will work closely with students with a range of learning disabilities, providing support that caters to their individual needs and helps them to achieve their educational goals.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and SENCO.
- Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives.
- Offer personalized attention to students with special needs, adapting to their emotional, social, and educational requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural plans.
- Provide support in personal care needs, as required, maintaining student dignity and independence.
- Attend to students' medical needs as necessary, following appropriate training.
- Monitor and record student progress in various educational settings.
- Implement strategies to promote a safe and positive learning environment.
- Act as a proactive team member within the school, participating in appropriate staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure excellent spoken and written English communication is maintained with both students and staff.
- Assist with the preparation of materials and equipment for classes and activities.
- Facilitate the inclusion of students in all aspects of school life.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
- Proven experience working with young people or adults with learning disabilities is essential.
- NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) for Teaching Assistants or a relevant child care qualification is preferred.
- Excellent spoken and written English skills.
- A current Enhanced DBS registered with the update service.
