What you’ll do
As an Assistant Project Manager within Jacobs’ Cities & Places business, you’ll support the successful delivery of projects from early design through construction and handover. The role requires good understanding of project management frameworks, commercial controls, and contract administration to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary design teams, contractors, and clients, managing interfaces and maintaining clear communication in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
You’ll support Senior Project Managers in keeping projects moving—coordinating with teams, contributing to progress reporting, and staying close to the details that keep delivery on track.
From day one, you’ll be involved in live projects, assisting with the coordination of designers, contractors, and clients, tracking programme and costs, and supporting risk, change, and quality management activities.
Every project brings its own challenges, and you’ll play a key role in helping solve them. You’ll balance client and business priorities, work alongside specialists from different disciplines, and help bridge the gap between technical design and real‑world delivery—ensuring solutions meet client requirements while maintaining Jacobs’ project and quality standards.
Here’s what you’ll need
* Degree in engineering, architecture, project management, or a related discipline.
* Student or Associate membership of the Association for Project Management (APM) or similar recognised body.
* Exposure to NEC3 or NEC4 contracts is a strong advantage.
* Early career project management experience, ideally within Build or D&B or construction delivery environment.
The role may require occasional travel and work from client offices in Matlock or Worcester. The role is Hybrid with 2 days min office attendance in Birmingham.
