Following a very successful acquisition in 2024, which has enhanced the business even further, 2026 and beyond will be very exciting times ahead of growth and expansion for Q-Mass and as a result, we are now looking to expand our very talented workforce by recruiting 4 x CNC Machinist/Operators to report into the Operations Manager.
Job Overview
This role reports into the Operations Manager and is a key role in supporting Q-Mass' growth plans and therefore develop your career. Q-Mass are seeking several skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinists/Operators with hands-on experience in CNC Machining. The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-tolerance components for complex engineering parts.
Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate and program CNC machines (mills, lathes, routers) to produce precision parts.
Perform test runs, verify outputs, adjust speeds/feeds, and conduct quality inspections.
Read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models and job orders accurately to translate drawings into parts with exact tolerances.
Set up tools, fixtures, and programme CNC machines accordingly.
Perform first‑part and in‑process inspections to maintain tight tolerances.
Maintain production logs and machine maintenance records.
Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software
Set up workpieces using jigs, fixtures, and precision measuring tools.
Perform in-process inspection using micrometers, height gauges, and CMM (where applicable).
Monitor machine performance and conduct routine maintenance as needed.
Work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, and quality control to meet tight deadlines and specifications and optimise machining processes.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures and quality standards.
Maintain accurate documentation for job tracking, tooling setup, and quality assurance.
Engender a culture of 'Continuous Improvement' and embrace the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality systems employed by the business
Attend staff and client meetings where required
Any other duties required by your line manager
Essential Experience
Proven experience as an CNC Machinist/Operator or EDM Operator (minimum 3 years preferred).
Proficiency with CNC programming and CAM software.
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience with tight-tolerance, high-precision components (±0.005mm or better).
Proficiency with CNC milling and/or turning, able to programme manually or via CAM.
Mazak experience and Oil and Gas experience would be massively beneficial
Attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to safety standards.
Willingness to work to a shift pattern
Desirable Experience
Experience with CAD design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
Prior experience in Oil & Gas, Aerospace or Defence parts engineering
Knowledge of AutoCAD, CAM software or CAD/CAM integration.
Previous exposure to multi-material environments.
Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
