About the Role As a locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery, you'll provide expert care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.
Responsibilities Provide specialist assessment and surgical management of patients requiring plastic, reconstructive, or hand surgery.
Lead operative procedures across trauma, elective, and emergency plastic surgery lists.
Deliver expert inpatient and outpatient care, including ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary meetings.
Offer clinical leadership to junior doctors, nursing teams, and theatre staff.
Ensure safe, timely decision‑making for complex reconstructive cases.
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold high standards of clinical governance.
Support teaching and supervision of registrars, core trainees, and medical students.
Engage in quality improvement, audits, and review of clinical outcomes.
Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Follow local trust policies and adhere to GMC and specialty standards.
What We're Looking For Essential:
MBBS or equivalent medical degree
Previous NHS experience
Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
A current Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check or PVG check
UK Right to Work
Strong communication and teamworking skills
Desirable:
CCT in Plastic Surgery (or within 6 months of achieving it)
