Role: Tax Manager or Tax Assistant Manager
Location: Exeter
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 DOE
About the Role:
An established and growing accountancy practice in the South West is seeking a Tax Manager or Assistant Tax Manager to join their Exeter office. The role offers flexible and hybrid working arrangements and is ideal for a current Assistant Tax Manager, a high-performing Tax Senior ready for their next step, or an experienced Tax Manager seeking new challenges.
The tax team serves a diverse client base including high-net-worth individuals, professional partnerships, shareholder/directors, non-resident taxpayers, family trusts, and a growing probate practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver a full range of tax services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, within agreed budgets and timeframes
* Build strong client relationships and provide tailored tax planning and advisory support
* Support and lead the tax team on various advisory projects
* Review and prepare complex tax returns
* Identify and manage tax risks effectively
* Collaborate with senior management to develop and train tax team members
* Oversee tax compliance and tax provision processes
* Assist with financial management and performance of the tax department
Candidate Profile:
* Experience as a Tax Manager, Assistant Tax Manager, or a high-performing Tax Senior
* ATT and/or CTA qualification
* Strong technical knowledge across a wide range of tax areas
* Excellent understanding of tax compliance returns
* Confident client-facing and interpersonal skills
* Ability to multi-task, work independently, and remain adaptable in a fast-paced environment
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
* Professional, discreet, and a collaborative team player
* Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and comfortable with digital communication tools
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
