Social Worker - Child Looked After Team
The post of Social Worker in the Child Looked After Team, Children’s Services, involves a range of functions and statutory duties, including child protection and safeguarding in accordance with the Children Act (1989) and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
The social worker will co-produce proportionate assessments and Care and Support Plans with families and partner agencies, produce court reports, and ensure that children in care experience permanence, supporting them to achieve personal outcomes and transition successfully to adulthood. The role includes managing a caseload supporting Children Looked After and children on the Child Protection register. The post may require court work related to applications such as contact issues and revocations.
The post holder will investigate allegations of child abuse (Children Act 1989, Section 47) and follow Cwm Taf Safeguarding procedures and All Wales Child Protection protocols.
The role involves safeguarding children in the community, working with children, young people, and their families or carers to achieve well-being outcomes. Supporting families collaboratively with other professionals, through change management and signposting to community services.
