Overview
Senior Tendering & Design Engineer role at GTC, part of the BUUK Infrastructure Group. Location: Warrington (also listed for Bellshill, Scotland). You will report to the Tendering & Design Manager and provide multi-utility quotations and designs for customers building new housing and commercial developments across the UK. You will prepare on- and off-site gas, electric, water and fibre quotations and designs in accordance with applicable standards.
Responsibilities
* Achieve high customer satisfaction with quotation, design and variation processes by providing quotations, new network designs and variations to meet customer expectations.
* Design innovative solutions that satisfy customer needs and internal stakeholder requirements, aiming for lowest cost and greatest benefit.
* Liaise closely with customers to ensure quotations and designs meet expectations.
* Carry out surveys of off-site works on complex projects.
* Obtain quotations for non-core works from required subcontractors (e.g., traffic management, welding).
* Perform demand calculations, network drawings and variations to ensure designs are fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and aligned with company and industry standards.
* Submit connection requests to incumbent utility operators and manage timelines as required by customers.
* Coordinate with the Land Rights team to ensure designs support lands transfers and easements.
* Provide support and expertise to internal and external customers as required.
* Produce construction packs for contractors and GTC Construction to build within prescribed timescales and meet customer requirements.
* Engage with senior and local representatives of third-party organisations (incumbent utilities, Highway Agencies, Local Authorities, Developers, HSE, EPA, etc.) as needed.
* Keep design standards current and issue data and reports according to business requirements.
* Maintain accuracy of data asset records and ensure high quality workmanship.
* Maintain a customer-focused, informative work environment across the BUUK group.
* Assist Tendering & Design Managers in improving efficiency across the company and supervise staff as required.
* Continuously improve the design process and ensure information is recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
* Comply with current company procedures, legislation and industry standards in day-to-day work; multi-task and manage own workload within timescales.
* Perform other duties as defined by the Tendering & Design Manager within the scope of the role.
Qualifications
* Must hold a suitable recognised qualification and be registered as an EngTech Engineer with the appropriate institution.
* Current CSCS card, or gas/electricity SHEA passport.
Experience/Knowledge
* Utility Network Design Experience.
* Knowledge of current legislation, technical standards and specifications, codes of practice and recommendations relating to utility design; aware of implications for safe asset operation.
Abilities/Skills
* Ability to understand customer needs and deliver high-quality customer service consistently.
* High standard of written and verbal communication.

* High standard of written and verbal communication.
* Competence in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Geographical Mapping Systems.
