About the Role:
Enfield Council are seeking an experienced and dedicated Homeless Housing Coordinator to join the Initial Assessment Team on a temporary basis. This team plays a critical role in preventing homelessness and supporting residents at risk by helping them sustain current housing or access suitable private rented accommodation.
As part of Tower Hamlets' commitment to early intervention and housing sustainment, this role will also work in close partnership with the Front Door Team and other key services under the borough's Early Help Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert housing advice and support to individuals and families facing homelessness.
* Undertake home visits and assessments to identify risk and support needs.
* Collaborate with internal and external partners to deliver tailored support plans and prevent homelessness.
* Interpret and apply relevant housing legislation including the Homelessness Reduction Act, housing policy, and case law.
* Manage complex cases, including those involving possession proceedings, court action, and eviction processes.
* Make informed homelessness decisions in line with legal requirements and council policy.
* Safeguard vulnerable adults and children, ensuring robust referrals and multi-agency working where necessary.
About You:
We are looking for someone with:
* Extensive knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, welfare benefits, and best practices in prevention.
* Experience in managing cases under the Homelessness Reduction Act and making legally sound homelessness decisions.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures for both adults and children.
* Experience working with the Courts, including understanding of possession orders and eviction processes.
* Excellent communication, assessment, and partnership working skills.
