Clinical Support Worker Chester (Inpatient)

Band 3 – Main area – Clinical Support Worker – Grade Band 3 – Contract Permanent – Hours Full time (37.5 hours per week) or Part time – Job ref 373-SMH2608-ROLL – Site Bowmere Hospital – Town Chester – Salary £24,937 - £26,598 per annum pro rata (Yearly) – Closing 27/02/2026 23:59

We have vacancies for permanent, full and part time opportunities for Clinical Support Workers within our bed-based services for adults and older people, based at Bowmere Hospital in Chester.

Please note that, should you be shortlisted for an interview, this will take place in the form of a face to face, values-based clinical assessment centre on Thursday 12th March. The Trust currently supports the Real Living Wage (RLW) hourly rate as set by the Living Wage Federation and will apply a pay supplement if the nation Agenda for Change hourly rate falls below this.


Main Duties of the Job

We offer wards that cater for acute admissions, assessment and treatment of dementia care, psychiatric intensive care and rehabilitation inpatient services. You would be required to work on a rotational shift basis, which includes days and nights. You will be part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team and have an ethos of collaborative working between individual service users, carers and other stakeholders. * Beech – acute admissions ward
* Juniper – acute admissions ward
* Cherry – organic admissions ward
* Willow – PICU
* Maple – Male high dependency rehabilitation ward

We also run the ECT department for all CWP inpatients and outpatients.

Person Specification


Qualifications

Essential criteria

* Appropriate Mental Health related qualification, or willingness to complete an apprenticeship appropriate to the Clinical Support Worker role
* Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 once in post or equivalent experience
* To demonstrate a range of work procedures and practices and to exhibit your knowledge and abilities
* Completion of or Working towards Care Certificate (CWP In‑house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date)

Desirable criteria

* Qualifications in Health and Social Care or other related disciplines


Knowledge and Expertise

Essential criteria

* Understanding of CWP, inclusive of Mental health services and the key role the Trust has within the health economy
* An understanding of confidentiality issues how they relate to mental health policy and practice interventions.
* Knowledge of CWP observation policy (policy found on CWP website)

Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies.


Experience

Essential criteria

* The ability to demonstrate good quality care, whilst adhering to Trust policies and procedures, and working towards completing Care Certificate.
* Experience of working collaboratively i.e. with colleagues, wider teams service users etc
* Supporting others in a care setting, whether this is experience in a professional or lived experience (friend, family, voluntary etc.)

* Previous experience of working with adults with severe mental health needs
