Full time (part time considered). Band 3 Healthcare Support Worker needed for the Children Inpatient Ward (Northbrook) at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role involves supporting nursing staff to provide high quality care to children and families.
Job Summary
The position is based at the Winchester site, Northbrook Ward – an 18-bedded unit handling children admitted from the Emergency Department, Sophie's Place, GP referral or for specialist treatment. The role is part of an integrated service that delivers care at the point of need.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and collaborate with nursing staff to deliver high quality care to children and families.
* Maintain excellent communication and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
* Apply childcare/nursery nurse training in day‑to‑day care.
* Assist with assessments, interventions and discharge planning in partnership with the clinical team.
* Maintain accurate patient records and hygiene standards.
* Participate in clinical education and professional development sessions.
Person Specification
Essential
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Health or Health and Social Care or equivalent childcare qualifications.
* At least one year’s experience working with children and the general public.
* Ability to work without direct supervision.
* Basic knowledge of normal child development.
* Clear Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Desirable
* Previous NHS experience.
* Understanding of child development principles.
