Are you motivated and resourceful, eager to make a meaningful difference? L is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and caring companion to support her in daily activities with focus on promoting her mental and physical wellbeing.

L was diagnosed with global developmental delay after birth. Later, following a group B streptococcal sepsis with multiorgan failure, L required above knee amputation of the left leg and below knee amputation of the right leg. Ls main means of mobility, both indoors and outdoors is a manual wheelchair.

As Ls buddy, you would be responsible for:

* Fostering independence through:
o Organising outings,
o Mindfully incorporating person-centred approach at every stage.
* Supporting ongoing cognitive development through:
o Educational activities at home,
o Creating opportunities for L to be intellectually challenged at appropriate level and pace,
o Training of Makaton (Sign Language).
* Promoting Ls physical and mental wellbeing through:
o Designing activities to promote Ls core strength (based on advice from physiotherapist);
o Encouraging L in taking charge of her physical health;
o Assisting with personal hygiene;
o Be mindful of Ls mental health needs.

L is a cheerful young woman, energetic and music-loving social butterfly, looking for a buddy who is:

* Resourceful and responsible
o Actively searches for new opportunities for her to enjoy and support her development;
o Can deal with unpredictable situations;
* Thoughtful and sensitive to diverse needs
o Able to work in a wide range of context (home environment, outings, sports);
o Respects her autonomy and advocates for her when required;
* Adaptable and reflective
o Can quickly adapt plans if needed;
o Listens to her needs and wishes;
o Is prepared to reflect on their practice and willing to carry on learning.

Working with L offers a unique opportunity to gain experience, and would suit a person interested in the intersections of special educational needs and disabilities, traumatic injuries, and mental health.

You will receive training and collaborate closely with L's existing support team.

Pay and Benefits:
* £18.00 per hour week days, £19.00 per hour weekends
* On-going training & support provided
* 5.6 weeks annual leave pro rata
* Pension (subject to qualifying status)
* Free DBS check.
In order to promote continuity of our high care standards, you will be offered:
* Induction,
* Relevant training opportunities (including The Care Certificate),
* Regular clinical supervision/review meetings,
* On-going support from a dedicated Case Manager and HR department
