Responsibilities
* Report to the IT Service Portfolio and Programme Manager. The role sits within the Service Portfolio and Programme Management team and is critical in delivering effective and efficient IT Services across the council.
* Work alongside 2 existing Project Managers within IT Services to deliver assigned projects in conjunction with the wider portfolio of IT projects.
* Take ownership of projects assigned from initiation, or pick up mid-flight. Assess current status using available project documentation and by liaising with the Project team and IT resources.
* Progress projects to successful delivery, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and the council’s requirements.
* Contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of excellent, cost-effective IT services that can respond quickly and adapt progressively to meet increasing demands.
* Engage with Depute Chief Executives, Heads of Service, senior managers, IT staff, customers, and suppliers, balancing their needs with the council’s requirements.
* Apply IT governance practices, including ITILv3 and PRINCE II, to manage projects effectively.
* Provide information or clarification about projects when discussing with colleagues or stakeholders, as needed.
Qualifications and experience
* Extensive experience in IT with proven project management experience, ideally in delivering both business and IT projects.
* Comprehensive understanding, knowledge, and experience of ITILv3 good practice.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously.
* Experience delivering projects under governance frameworks based on PRINCE II.
