Aspiring Child Psychologist SEND Teaching Assistant - Kensington & Chelsea September 2025 Start Are you an Aspiring Child Psychologist eager to gain practical, hands-on experience supporting children with special educational needs? This SEND Teaching Assistant role in a welcoming Primary School in Kensington & Chelsea is an excellent opportunity to build the skills and experience required for a future career in child, clinical, or educational psychology. The school is well-regarded for its inclusive ethos and strong commitment to supporting children with additional needs such as autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing both academic and emotional support, helping pupils develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive. One of the unique benefits of this role is the opportunity to collaborate with specialist professionals, including a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT), Educational Psychologist, and SENCO. Working closely with these experts will provide you with valuable insights into multi-disciplinary approaches to supporting children experience that is highly regarded by postgraduate psychology training providers. Full-time, term-time position starting September 2025 £95£105 per day (PAYE), depending on experience Fantastic classroom and pastoral experience with children aged 411 Ideal preparation for careers in Educational or Child Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Speech and Language Therapy Mentoring and training from experienced SEN practitioners Convenient Kensington & Chelsea location with excellent transport links Role and Responsibilities Deliver 1:1 and small group support for children with SEND Adapt resources and activities to make learning inclusive and accessible Implement strategies to support communication, social skills, and emotional regulation Work with teachers, SENCO, and specialists to deliver individualised support plans Encourage pupils independence, confidence, and resilience in the classroom Support behaviour management and contribute to a positive, nurturing environment Person Specificatio Degree in Psychology or related subject (or strong interest in child development and mental health) Experience with children desirable but not essential resilience, patience, and empathy are key Excellent communication and teamwork skills Genuine aspiration to pursue a career in child or educational psychology This is the perfect role for an Aspiring Child Psychologist looking to gain meaningful school-based experience while making a real difference to childrens lives.
