About the Role
We’re looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Newcastle, supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to help children access learning, build confidence, and develop essential communication and life skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities
2. Assist pupils with communication and interaction needs, using visual or alternative communication methods
3. Help with personal care routines where required, always promoting independence and dignity
4. Provide targeted support through one-to-one and small-group interventions
5. Monitor and record pupil progress, feeding back to staff teams
Person Specification
6. Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND preferred
7. Patient, caring, and positive approach
8. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
9. Adaptable and able to respond to a variety of needs
10. Committed to safeguarding and ongoing professional growth
