The Shrubbery Rest Home requires 1 activities co-ordinators on part time contracts. Contract is 16.5 hours a week (3 days per week. Shift times 10am-4pm with a half an hour unpaid break). A passion for working in elderly care is a must. Some flexibility is required within the hours of work to account for day trips and evening or weekend activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide a wellness support to residents, taking into consideration their personal choices and preferences in line with their care plan and company policies.
· Assist residents with individual and group activities, including social interaction, in line with individual care and support plans.
· Provide an all-service to the home which could include making beds, tidying of rooms/ communal areas, making hot and cold drinks for residents, assisting with meals, laundry and light domestic duties such as hoovering, washing up or dusting.
· Treat residents with dignity, respect and kindness. Provide support to residents to make personal choices that will improve their lives and experience of care.
· To respect and uphold people's right under The Equality Act 2010 and its associated protected characteristics.
· Develop good relationships with colleagues, residents and relatives/representatives.
· To ensure that all documentation is completed and up to date to evidence relevant area of care and support have been provided.
· To contribute to the handover process and effective communication within the home.
· To always maintain confidentiality and report concerns in relation to this to the manager without delay.
· To work within and comply with all policies and procedures within the home.
· To work within the homes' infection control policy at all times and follow any supporting policies or guidance.
· Report any concerns to the senior/manager without delay, ensuring the correct documentation has been completed e.g., incident reports/daily notes/care plans.
· To follow the direction and instruction of senior staff at all times.
· To act in a professional manner at all times.
· Attend meetings and complete training as set by the manager, in given timescales.
· Work flexibly on a rota system to meet the needs of the business, including weekend and evening work where required.
