Job Description:
Job purpose
We are seeking a motivated and charismatic individual to join our admissions team on a full-time basis. This role will primarily focus on student recruitment, particularly engaging with prospective students from countries in Africa and the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have sales experience, be willing to travel to African and Middle Eastern countries regularly, and be fluent in Arabic, with fluency in other languages being desirable.
Beyond recruitment, this role involves maintaining strong relationships with the students you have recruited, as well as their families, once they join Ashbourne. The successful candidate will help ensure a consistent cohort of 25 students from Africa and the Middle East at the college while fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
About Ashbourne
Established over 40 years ago, Ashbourne has become one of the top private colleges for A levels in the UK. It distinguishes itself through exam results, individual attention, and excellent facilities, aiming to be the best overall college for A levels in the UK.
Ethos and culture
At Ashbourne, there are no uniforms, no assemblies, no school dinners, and relations between teachers and students are informal, vital, and strong. This relationship is encouraged by the lack of formality and the opportunities for engagement provided by small classes.
The college is selective, reserving the right to deny progression from year 12 to year 13 if academic standards are not met. All students are expected to work hard and aim high, with a '100%' homework submission rule and a shared ethos of striving for excellence.
About the College
Sixth form college – most students are at A level and choose Ashbourne for its mature approach, greater freedom, and responsibility. It offers a different, more informal approach to education compared to traditional schools.
Academic performance – consistently ranked first or second among private colleges in London, and in the top 5% of schools and colleges by value-added metrics.
Individual attention – small class sizes and personal tutors support student engagement and monitor academic progress.
Welfare – support systems are in place to promote wellbeing and prevent bullying and abuse.
Location – near Kensington Gardens, within easy reach of London's cultural attractions.
Ashbourne community – diverse, with 70% British and up to 50 nationalities, offering a wide range of subjects and extracurricular activities.
Academic opportunities – diverse subjects including arts, humanities, sciences, and economics.
Extra-curricular opportunities – activities like Model United Nations, astrophysics, and the Ashbourne Revue.
Intensive courses – options for one-year or eighteen-month courses for GCSE and A level students.
Scholarships – generous programs supporting outstanding students, including music and drama scholarships.
Happiness – a supportive environment where students support each other, free from cliques and snobbery.
