JOB TITLE: Support Worker: Semi-Independent Accommodation We are looking for a Support worker for our Semi-Independent Accommodation in the Croydon and Sutton areas. Our support package is broadly aimed at preparing our young people to live independently in the community post-18. This position involves supporting vulnerable young people aged living within a supported accommodation. The right candidate must be caring, patient, well organised and self-motivated. They must also have excellent time management and communication skills and with a strong desire to help young people develop to their full potential. Possession of a driver's licence is necessary, and a car would be an advantage. JOB DESCRIPTION The right candidate will: - Support our young people in gaining vital skills such as cooking, cleaning, maintaining a good level of personal hygiene, shopping, budgeting, and so on. - Support our young people in making important appointments, including health appointments and accompany the young people on those appointments. - Be responsible for safeguarding the young people within our care and understand how and when to raise concerns. - Take deliberate initiatives to develop appropriate relationships with young people, some of whom may present with behaviours that challenge, so as to understand their needs and feelings and respond to them accordingly. - Build positive relationships with external agencies and stakeholders, including social services. - Be able to work alone with young people in placement. - Write regular reports on activities in the placement. So, the right candidate must have a good command of spoken and written English. - Have good administrative and organisational skills. Carry out regular supervision and have general oversight of staff members in their area. - Be willing to attend relevant trainings as and when necessary. EXPERIENCE: - At least two years' experience working in the Health and Social Care sector is essential. QUALIFICATIONS: - You must already possess or be willing to work towards completing QCF /NVQ Level 3 award in Health & Social Care (Children) within the set time frame. This is a statutory requirement for all employees wishing to work in childcare. REQUIREMENTS: - Enhanced Clean DBS is a necessity - Driving license is necessary.
