Job Description
James Adams is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to join my clients growing IT team. You will be responsible for providing Desktop support to our internal users, resolving technical issues, and ensuring a smooth user experience. This is a permanent position working onsite in Nottingham.
Responsibilities:
* Provide excellent technical support to internal users, both remotely and on-site.
* Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of hardware and software issues related to desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
* Configure and maintain user accounts, laptops (including set-up, deployment, and decommissioning), and mobile devices.
* Manage user access and permissions through Entra ID and Intune administration.
* Utilize Service Now to effectively log, track, and resolve user tickets and manage IT assets.
* Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team on security incidents, demonstrating familiarity with security tools like Crowdstrike and Zscaler.
* Maintain a secure and reliable Wi-Fi environment using Ubiquiti.
* Clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users in a patient and understandable manner.
* Continuously learn and develop your technical knowledge to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.
Skills and Experience:
* 1-2 years of experience in a desktop support or similar technical role.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
* Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy would be a plus.
* Experience with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure (familiarity is a plus).
* A strong understanding of laptop hardware and software configuration.
* Knowledge of Entra ID and Intune administration.
* Proficiency with Service Now for ticketing and asset management.
* Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts and familiarity with security tools like Crowdstrike and Zscaler preferred.
* Experience with Ubiquiti for Wi-Fi management is a plus.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-technical users in a clear and concise manner.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Excellent customer service skills with a commitment to user satisfaction.
