The Udder Pre School

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Nursery Practitioner:

Monday: 8.15am - 6.00pm

Tuesday: 8.15am - 5.30pm

Wednesday: 8.15am - 5.30pm

Thursday: 8.15am - 5.30pm

Friday: off

35.5 hours, All Year Round

Pay rate may differ depending on age and experience.

The candidate will need to be educated to NVQ Level 2 in Childcare standard or higher. A personal affinity with connections to the countryside and all it encompasses will be an advantage introducing the enormous benefits to children from following our belief in the blue sky experiential learning.

You will be a strong team player and have a love of the great outdoors as we are based on a farm and spend as much time outside as possible going out for walks and using our two Forest areas daily.

You will have strong people skills with an ability to develop excellent working relationships having the ability to adapt to any situation.

You will have excellent parent partnership skills with a real passion for delivering excellent services to all the children and families using the nursery.

You will need to have your own Transport as we are based off the A43 and there is no public transport.

Main Duties

1. To implement the curriculum as set out by the Leadership Team

2. To help set up the rooms for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times.

3. To record your key children's development in their learning journal and share this with the parent/carers

4. To liaise with and support parents/carers

5. To follow the nursery safeguarding procedure to ensure all children are kept safe, well and secure

6. To advise the DSL of any concerns e.g. over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.

7. To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.

8. To teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.

9. To be involved in out of working hours activities e.g. training, staff meetings, parents evenings, get togethers

10. To be flexible within working practices of the nursery. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the nursery e.g. preparation of snacks/meals, cleansing equipment etc.

11. Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure that the nursery's Ethos is fulfilled.

12. Read, understand and adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role as deemed appropriate by the Manager

13. Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure a Supervisor has initialled the report before a parent receives it

14. Look upon the nursery, as a "whole" where can your help be most utilised? Be constantly aware of the individual needs of all children

15. To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff which is acquired as part of the job.

Specific childcare tasks:

1. The preparation and completion of activities to suit each individual child's stage development and interests

2. To develop your role within the team especially with regard as a key person

3. To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing

4. Washing and changing children as required

5. To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times

6. Ensuring a poorly child is kept calm and warm and management is notified immediately

7. To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communications with parents/carers to facilitate day-to-day caring and early learning needs

8. To ensure the provision of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children regardless of any disabilities, family backgrounds or medical history

9. To be aware of the high profile of the nursery and uphold its standards at all times, both within work hours and outside

10. To ensure that you keep up to date with all the observations/reports on iconnect

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £12.25 per hour
