An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Digital Communications Officer, to join the busy Corporate Communications team. We have moved to a ‘digital first’ approach and this is a pivotal role in engaging our residents and other stakeholders, promoting our services and achievements, and managing our reputation. The team covers all aspects of communications - from social media and web, to campaigns, media relations and online and print newsletters and other publications.
If you’re passionate about digital storytelling, data-driven communications and making a real impact through online platforms, then this could be the role for you. We’re looking for a dynamic and creative Digital Communications Officer to help us connect with our audiences in smarter, more engaging ways – and to improve the Council’s online reputation, promote our services, and showcase Eastleigh Borough as a great place to live, work and visit.
Reporting to the Senior Communications Officer (Creative & Digital) and working with colleagues in the Corporate Communications team and across the Council, you’ll play a key role in shaping our digital voice. From managing our social media channels to crafting compelling e-newsletters and marketing mailshots you’ll ensure our communications are impactful, relevant and engaging. You’ll also take ownership of our website content, making sure it’s accessible and informative and optimised for search.
About you
You’ll be self-starter who works proactively and can quickly establish rapport with colleagues across the organisation You’ll know how to make the most of video content, be comfortable developing and feeding into campaigns and will have strong writing and editing skills, and a good understanding of analytics .
You’ll know your way around platforms like Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Google Analytics and content management systems. You’ll also know how to stretch modest budgets to amplify our messaging.
Experience of working in a fast-moving, complex environment would be useful.
