Northampton – Head of Payroll – £50k to £65k
We are recruiting for a senior payroll leader to head up the payroll function within a highly regarded accountancy and professional services firm. This is a key management position, combining hands-on technical delivery with leadership of the payroll team and oversight of the team. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end payroll process for a wide portfolio of clients
* Manage, develop, and support the payroll team
* Take ownership of complex and larger client payrolls
* Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pensions, and legislation
* Drive improvements, automation, and system development
* Collaborate with internal teams and external providers
* Act as the firm’s payroll expert for queries and escalations
* Support business development and onboarding of new clients
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in payroll management
* Good technical knowledge, with accountancy practice or bureau experience helpful
* Ability to balance leadership with hands-on client delivery
* Commercial acumen and interest in developing the bureau offering
