The Role
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services (MEP) team in Nottingham. You will play a key role in the design, coordination and delivery of mechanical building services systems across a wide variety of projects, supporting schemes from concept through to completion.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will collaborate closely with electrical engineers, BIM technicians and other disciplines to deliver efficient, innovative and sustainable mechanical designs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the design and delivery of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating, cooling and ventilation
2. Produce design calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
3. Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, public health, structural and architectural teams
4. Support project delivery across all stages, from concept through to detailed design and construction
5. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and best practice guidance
6. Work within a BIM environment, collaborating with technicians using Autodesk Revit
7. Attend client and design team meetings, representing the mechanical discipline
8. Contribute to low-carbon and energy-efficient design strategies
9. Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
10. Assist with project planning, resource management and delivery to programme and budget
About You
11. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
12. Proven experience in mechanical design within a Building Services (MEP) consultancy environment
13. Strong understanding of HVAC systems and building services design principles
14. Experience working across multiple project stages
15. Ability to manage and deliver projects independently and as part of a team
16. Strong communication and client-facing skills
Desirable:
17. Working towards or achieved Chartered status (e.g. via Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers)
18. Experience with BIM and coordination tools (e.g. Autodesk Revit)
19. Knowledge of sustainable design, decarbonisation and energy modelling principles
20. Experience within a multidisciplinary consultancy
