Overview
The Metroline Engineer will report directly to their appointed Engineering Manager or in their absence, the Assistant Engineering Manager. He/she will be responsible for providing engineering support to the garage and the engineering team whilst attending training blocks and learning the role of a PSV engineer. This will involve all aspects of the engineering function required to facilitate the smooth, day to day, running of the garage.
Responsibilities
* Attending internal and external training courses to complete an IMI Accreditation in PSV repair across a 12-month period.
* Ensuring that the Company Operator Licence is always protected.
* Completing repairs to a high standard.
* Working in a safe manner in accordance with Metroline Health & Safety directives.
* Answering the telephone, acting promptly on issues raised by Service delivery, operations, the driver directly and dealing with vehicle faults as found at the roadside and/or as directed by the manager.
* Entering details of vehicle breakdowns onto the Electronic Vehicle Management System or manual Running Repair Record and 24‑hour sheet.
* Completion of the wheel nut check book when required.
* Entering details of vehicle faults and creating job cards onto the Electronic Vehicle Management System or manual paperwork.
* Basic use of diagnostic equipment.
* Identifying spares required and ensuring they are ordered on time.
* Notifying manager of any additional faults and repairs that are required on any allocated job.
* Reporting any technical issues that arise to the Engineering or Technical Manager.
* Reading and understanding technical bulletins when issued.
* Developing a sound working relationship with drivers, operations staff and communicating well with other engineers and managers.
* Keep work areas always clean.
* Ability to prioritise workload to meet requirements.
* Flexibility to change priorities and resources quickly to meet the needs of the garage.
* Ability to work within a team.

Qualifications
* NVQ or equivalent Qualification in Light Vehicle Repair (Master Tech if possible).
* Sound mechanical and electrical knowledge.
* Hold a full Driving Licence.
* Technically adept.
