Overview
The Deaf Academy are recruiting for an Assistant Account to join our team. You’ll be AAT qualified and have experience in a similar level of role and in the preparation of management accounts. You’ll be experienced in reviewing and analysing financial information and reporting on results, using accounting software to best effect. This is an exciting new role within an established and friendly team and is a key role within the Finance team responsible for maintaining processes used for driving financial compliance and reporting within the Charity.
Role and responsibilities
The role will include:
* Assisting the Finance Manager with the preparation of monthly management accounts and monthly budget reports, monitoring/reporting variances against budget.
* Preparing cash flow forecasts, monitoring bank balances and maintaining daily cashbook entries.
* Undertaking monthly balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining the fixed asset register and assisting with the preparation of the Annual Audit file, liaising with auditors.
* Assisting with quarterly VAT returns, the preparation of termly fee logs and raising sales invoices, ensuring robust credit control.
* Line management of the Finance and Payroll Officer and overseeing monthly payroll.
* Assisting in sourcing and implementing a new finance software provider alongside the Finance Manager and CFO.
Qualifications and experience
* AAT Level 4 qualified, or qualified by experience (or part qualified and ready to work towards further professional qualifications).
* Experience in a similar role, preparing management accounts, analysis of finance reports and reporting on results.
* Experience of effectively using a computerised accounting package.
* Experience of payroll administration.
* Experience of double entry bookkeeping and purchase ledger.
* Strong mathematical skills.
* Good IT experience including use of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with an appreciation as to why these skills are important.
* Good interpersonal skills including good customer service by way of written and verbal means of communication.
