PURPOSE OF THE POST

Based within the prison establishment, the focus of the role is to oversee the delivery of POPS’ Visitor Centre and Family Welfare Service within the establishment. The role involves working closely with prison staff to ensure POPS’ family welfare and support are embedded as an integral part of the prison pathways at HMP Lancaster Farms, providing information, advice, and guidance for prisoners’ children, families, and significant others throughout the custodial sentence.

MAIN TASKS

Activities

1. Support the development and delivery of the Children and Families strategy at the establishment.
2. Oversee the day-to-day operations of POPS’ family welfare services.
3. Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for prison staff regarding the effective delivery of the Family Support Service.
4. Manage the rostering and supervision of POPS’ staff to ensure contractual compliance.
5. Ensure all prisoners are informed about POPS’ family support service during induction.
6. Support prisoners and their loved ones in maintaining positive relationships and communication during the custodial sentence.
7. Engage with community agencies to address the needs of prisoners’ children, families, and visitors, including signposting where appropriate.
8. Involve family members in the development of sentence plans, release plans, ACCT, Healthcare, and other prison processes.
9. Provide support for prisoners not receiving visits.
10. Maintain accurate case management files on POPS’ online CRM system.
11. Compile and submit statistical and narrative reports to the Line Manager monthly.
12. Coordinate with the Offender Management Unit, Prison Key Workers, and other agencies to share information appropriately and timely.
13. Participate in prison-based meetings as required.
14. Organise and chair POPS’ family forums, produce minutes, and provide updates.
15. Plan and facilitate Family Day visits in accordance with contractual requirements.
16. Attend relevant training sessions.
17. Work flexibly, including weekdays, weekends, and travel as necessary.
18. Cover other areas of POPS’ service delivery as required.
19. Adhere to all POPS’ and prison policies and procedures.
20. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager.
